If there's a heaven, I've no doubt Ms. Parton is going there. The writer of that article, on the other hand, will be deeply surprised at her final destination.

If there is no heaven, Ms. Parton is still a good example of public kindness and decency, and the author of the article is a fuckin' bigot.
Morbid curiosity got the best of me, and I read this.

The argument is literally that Dolly Parton is a fake, destructive Christian because despite a lifetime of kindness, decency, philanthropy, and spreading joy around the world, she won’t explicitly condemn gay people for their wickedness.

My husband is reading a really interesting book about activist burn out, and basically every chapter that looks at specific historical activists shows that being unable to acknowledge even minor victories leads to burn out and depression.
I think some people are afraid of good news because they think it inevitably leads to complacency. like any hint of good must mean there is no need for Better. but…endless bad news doesn’t lead to Better either. it leads to exhaustion.

TRUMP: If they can do this to me, they can do this to anyone.

Yes. If you commit 34 felonies by filing false business records to cover up election interference, you too can be convicted by a jury of your peers via the due process of our criminal justice system.

I know people are saying he should get taken away from the courthouse in handcuffs straight to Rikkers, but have you considered that he could be taken the long way round through the streets of NYC so he has to see and hear the entire city celebrating?

the thing i love to imagine is how much smoke has been blown up Trump's ass by his yes-sir cronies over the course of this trial and then it's guilty on 34 counts and there's nothing the fuck he can do about it

I retroactively feel the need to clarify that I'm sure she had a name and I probably even heard it spoken, I'm just terrible at remembering things and worse when I'm nervous 😭 I'm sure I can meet her again and learn it in the fall!
I also met a young lady who couldn't be more than 22 who was asking THE BEST QUESTIONS so I was able to piggyback off her; thank you nameless Zoomer who loves romantic poetry

I've met several of the English faculty and they're also very nice. Unfortunate that I am cripplingly shy. But I still talked to two of them!

Aggie Transfer Day 2024! Nobody has asked me if I'm a parent yet (I mean, I am, but not of an Aggie), the Comms advisor did clock me for a re-entry student. Which... wasn't bad, actually! She was super nice.
