I fear we're past the point of metaphor now when we talk about "drinking the Kool aid". Many MAGAs are over the threshold to the point where they would swallow poison if he tells them to, and feel special to be able to serve him in that way. They would make their children do it too. Hope I'm wrong.

These people have absolutely no idea what they are doing, and they didn't keep anyone around who knows either. The incompetence on open display hints at countless other intelligence and security failures happening in the dark.

I keep hearing that we now live in a "post-truth" world. To the extent that this is correct, it will directly correlate with (and cause) a decline in the health of our societies and civilization. Mental health is dependent on the capacity to accurately perceive and respond to reality.

If you have not seen the movie, Origin, I highly recommend it. It is both historically expansive, and breathtakingly of the moment. It is both intellectual and personal. It is intensely thought provoking and engagingly enjoyable. I've probably over hyped it now, but I think it will hold up anyway.

It has been a challenging couple of weeks as a therapist. There are a great number of people who are actively grieving, and/or experiencing acute stress or even trauma reactions, including me.The pandemic still reverberates and we remain extra vulnerable to safety threats and scare tactics.
