I was pleasantly surprised that 'Miss Universe' and 'Miss World' were mentioned in a discussion on judging research quality. Wondering if the author could be a pageant fan just as I am.

These new purchases invited me to revisit a book chapter I wrote in 2003 on Beauty Pageants in the Philippines. Not only is pageantry popular in my country - there are intertwined issues and intersectionalities that are worth discussing.
