”What’s wrong with build tools? Other languages are compiled!”

Yes, but their compiler is official and always there.

The #JS ecosystem has devolved into a state where abstraction, the most fundamental software engineering concept, has been outsourced to third party tooling.

*That’s* the problem.

CSS is so powerful now, it's amazing looking through older CSS and seeing what can be replaced with a one-liner. I'm on the hunt for snippets that used to be multiple lines of CSS that can now be done in one. Show me what you got!

It l’s much worse. A newspaper controlled by orban’s friends has obtained the addresses and phone numbers of leading opposition party supporters and put them on a publicly available map. Hungarian police is doing nothing about it, international press hasn’t even picked it up.
incredible that these guys have a massive hard on for a country that, if it were a state, would rank behind kansas in terms of wealth and which would be a total backwater if it weren’t economically integrated with more functional countries

Most podcasts are becoming extremely annoying. Every 5-th word is "like". Or they are being used eve more often. There is almost no content I can listen to where they speak acceptable English.

I agree with most of this www.xipu.li/posts/the-la...

What I don’t agree with: nobody really knows what is coming. Hopefully, to something better. But it could be anything.

I am the mix of the categories of developers in the post. I can "vibecode" something to 100% but I can also do it by hand.

With the latest iOS Safari where address bar is at the bottom and changes height while scrolling, it seems all bottom fixed menus are not looking ok--they get a small bottom strip below the menu, like a negative space.

Strength is an interesting thing.

I have been doing hip hinges for a while and I got up to the weight below (150 kg load) and did several easy reps 1-2 times a week.

Except yesterday, when I could barely do 6 reps with 120.

Has anyone inspected youtube webpage properly?

macos Tahoe just warned me Safari is consuming 7GB of memory, so I got curious and looked at tabs. youtube was leading with 2.5GB in one tab. my naina.codes was at 65 MB. Sure, this one is not a video player, but still, that is kinda crazy.
Naina – Fast. Simple. Standard.
naina doesn’t hand off design—it hands you the code, every time you change your mind.

behold the "HTML bomb"

It's a counterattack for AI companies that persistently scrape and rescrape your web site, even when you tell them not to

when a scraper grabs it, it becomes a 10-gig HTML page and 💣 goes the scraper

So many great things in this post. I have only been using a small fraction of them (some theme-based css styling) so lots to learn.
One of the most powerful tools in my toolbox is SVG. When combined with CSS and JavaScript, we can do some truly remarkable things. ✨

📝 I’ve just published a brand-new blog post that covers the most critical fundamentals. It’s chock full of interactive demos. 😄
