I love painting and playing Warhammer. Horus Heresy, Fantasy Battles, MESBG, Kill Team, Aeronautica, Necromunda, 40K. He/Him/They. Warhammer is for Everyone. Backdrop books used in my model photos are from Handiwork Games.
Sihathor the Last is a character I created in 2018 as a time-travelling nemesis for a 40K campaign against my brother's Space Wolves, just as I was getting back into 40K. Since then he's appeared in the Heresy settings too - this is one of the first models I painted after a ten year break.

The game was full of heroic last stands like this one, from the gunners of Artillery Regiment No. 24, the Duke of Munshaven's own. Each unit has a regimental trait - for the 24th, if they die they get to make one last point blank attack, which inflicted two wounds on the Warboss.

This is what you call Apraxian discipline. If my models stay in base contact they gain +1 BS and +1 Ld. "By the right, right wheel!"

I kept the company standard alive right to the end and he was the last man standing (if he dies, the whole company has to take a Panic check). He passed his Ld after losing the combat on a double 1, anything else would have been a failure. Medals for that man!

Despite the cat's best efforts, we did manage to play a Horus Heresy game last night, Orks Vs Imperialis Militia. The Orks score a decisive win, but the Apraxian Fusiliers had some great moments and earned much honour in the Crown Prince's name.

Ok, you can sit quietly at the back and direct the artillery fire

We've reached a compromise, she's found a warm radiator to sit on and observe proceedings.

She certainly is an agent of Chaos...

We have an uninvited guest at tonight's Horus Heresy game... Phoebe is clearly some subterranean Old Night horror, hiding underneath the Imperialis Militia deployment zone.

Finished twenty Men of Númenor, ready for the Last Alliance battle in the New Year. Nice straightforward paint jobs on these, but they'll look great for a big battle.

I can highly recommend Warhammer Skirmish - a bit like a simplified version of Mordheim. Old World or WFB stat lines port right over. We've played litte scenarios like "defend a tower against goblins for as long as you can" or "hold the Dwarf tavern against Skaven until more ale arrives".

Really pleased to get my hands on the special edition of Relentless Dead by Steve Lyons. It's a gorgeous book with loads of nice details. Without spoiling the story too much, I'm five chapters in and it takes the Krieg in new directions, putting them under pressure. Really enjoying it so far.

Done a test Man of Númenor, I'm trying to strike a balance between something that looks good but also won't take me ages, as the Battle of the Last Alliance is looming in a few weeks' time... Pretty happy with this.

Working on some fire support for the Phesian Bombardiers - I love how cool Rapier batteries look, so I used the new plastic ones with some converted Solar Auxilia crew to lay down a storm of suppressive fire. Putting Tactical Statuses on stuff is key in the new Horus Heresy edition.

There's no such thing as too much artillery when it comes to the Death Korps of Krieg...

I have a Mordheim weekend coming up later this month, and I'm painting up some bits for it including this Norsca Warband - Sidric's Redblades. I don't very often paint AOS models but these were really nice sculpts.

Finished my first Solar Auxilia command squad! Like the tanks, these took a long time, but I'm really happy with the overall results. The Phesian Bombardiers will be a tank-heavy army with lots of Rapiers and sentinels to back them up.

Update - I've salvaged things by using the hand and sword to make a Númenor captain model from a spare spearman. I believe this is a classic conversion which is still in the Armies of Lord of the Rings book as representing a captain.

Uh oh... I've run into an inauspicious omen when clipping my first Man of Númenor off the sprue...

Mrs Krieg and I played a nice game of MESBG at the weekend, the first time I had the chance to try my Khazan Dum army. She ran the Orcs - it looked like it was going to be an easy Evil win with lots of Dwarves slain, but they just couldn't beat King During - he won every combat and I won on VP!

I'm going down a bit of a rabbit hole with my Solar Auxilia order of battle. Today's task is to make the organisations make sense, and be representable in both Legions Imperialis and Horus Heresy without contradiction. Ranks, units, strengths, all have to match up.
November 8, 2025 at 2:28 PM
I can't wait to get my hands on these and turn them into a Heresy militia!

My Solar Auxilia command squad is ready for painting. Really nice models, I made some tweaks with an Anvil head swap to give them the berets, and the lasguns have been changed a bit to make them more compact. Really enthusiastic about this new army, can't wait to get some painting done!

Finished my first tank for the Phesian Bombardiers. I really took my time with this; usually my tanks are designed to get on the tabletop quickly and look good from a distance. With this one I did all the interior detailing and spent two days edge highlighting all that brass - but it was worth it.
