I love painting and playing Warhammer. Horus Heresy, Fantasy Battles, MESBG, Kill Team, Aeronautica, Necromunda, 40K. He/Him/They. Warhammer is for Everyone. Backdrop books used in my model photos are from Handiwork Games.

The Death Korps 5th Assault Battalion takes to the field! Shown here are six platoons, two tank companies, and one artillery company - about 500 infantry and 30 vehicles. 60% of the way to a full infantry company! Pics in the 🧵...

Finished my first Solar Auxilia command squad! Like the tanks, these took a long time, but I'm really happy with the overall results. The Phesian Bombardiers will be a tank-heavy army with lots of Rapiers and sentinels to back them up.

Uh oh... I've run into an inauspicious omen when clipping my first Man of Númenor off the sprue...

Mrs Krieg and I played a nice game of MESBG at the weekend, the first time I had the chance to try my Khazan Dum army. She ran the Orcs - it looked like it was going to be an easy Evil win with lots of Dwarves slain, but they just couldn't beat King During - he won every combat and I won on VP!

I'm going down a bit of a rabbit hole with my Solar Auxilia order of battle. Today's task is to make the organisations make sense, and be representable in both Legions Imperialis and Horus Heresy without contradiction. Ranks, units, strengths, all have to match up.

My Solar Auxilia command squad is ready for painting. Really nice models, I made some tweaks with an Anvil head swap to give them the berets, and the lasguns have been changed a bit to make them more compact. Really enthusiastic about this new army, can't wait to get some painting done!

Finished my first tank for the Phesian Bombardiers. I really took my time with this; usually my tanks are designed to get on the tabletop quickly and look good from a distance. With this one I did all the interior detailing and spent two days edge highlighting all that brass - but it was worth it.

I love it when a colour scheme comes together. These are the first models for the Phesian Bombardiers. I've painted the Basilisk crew as a test (so I can hide them if it goes wrong) but I'm really happy with them. Red berets are inextricably linked with MPs in my mind, but I'll get over that!

Last night we played a great homebrew version of PvE Kill Team, that included some Space Hulk style house rules. Black Templars and Imperial Guard were part of a joint boarding party investigating mysterious signals from a freighter, only to uncover a Genestealer infestation!

Starting work on the Solar Auxilia today. I'm using these Anvil Industries beret heads to make them a bit different. Plus it gives classic Stormtroopers vibes!

Sergeant Tomsen is ready to take his place at the head of 7th Platoon, 4th Squad, adding another ten lasguns to the second company's firing line. Stoic, determined, and seemingly without fear, they are ready for any of the worst horrors the galaxy can bring against them.

Any Horus Heresy lore experts out there who fancy some Sunday morning trivia? What's the difference between these two symbols on the Solar Auxilia sprue? I assume the top one is the Solar Auxilia logo, as it matches what's on the infantry. But what's the other one? Thanks!

Everyone knows the first (and most important) step in starting a new Warhammer army is designing a TO&E, and lovely rank insignia charts... right?

Being such a huge Horus Heresy fan, as well as a treadhead obsessed with the Imperial Guard, I'm surprised it's taken me so long to start a Solar Auxilia army. It's taken a while to find a niche that I like, but I've planned a mechanised artillery sub cohort. Meet the 1,908th Phesian Bombardiers!

"I have seen three ages in the West of the world... I was the herald of Gil-galad and marched with his host. I was at the Battle of Dagorlad before the Black Gate of Mordor, where we had the mastery: for the Spear of Gil-galad and the Sword of Elendil, Aiglos and Narsil, none could withstand."

Starting on Box 54 of Krieg troopers today, who will be added to the army and become 7th Platoon, 4th Squad.

"But Sauron also was thrown down, and with the hilt-shard of Narsil Isildur cut the Ruling Ring from the hand of Sauron and took it for his own."

Elendil and Isildur ready for the Last Alliance battle. Really pleased with these, especially the trim on Isildur's tunic.

Played my first ever big game of Heresy 3.0. There are some positive changes - overall it's a much slicker system, but it hasn't lost the nuance of the old one. Favourite parts are the new emphasis on morale and statuses, giving it courage a less binary feel, and of course challenges!

I decided to treat myself to one of those nice metal posters of the Karl Kopinski Krieg painting (in the bottom left), so I took the opportunity to add to the Guard Wall in the War Room. Recently rejigged the books as well, to give me a bit more storage space for armies!

Following the battle of the Eventide, and Bazemore's promotion to flag rank, sector command have authorised the transfer of another battleship to the fleet. The venerable Emperor-class Via Dolorosa will be Vice Admiral Erlen's new flagship.

"Now Sauron's lust and pride increased, and he determined to make himself master of all things in Middle Earth, and to destroy the Elves, and compass if he might, the downfall of Númenor. He brooked no freedom nor any rivalry, and named himself the Lord of the Earth"

Last night I played a game of 40K against a very colourful Necrons army. I had a great time, and managed to secure a rare win for the Steel Legion! The Mechanised Assault detachment is really good if you have the CP to make it work, definitely my favourite Imperial Guard det for 10th Ed.

"But if there are many of these ruffians," said Merry, "it will certainly mean fighting. You won’t rescue Lotho, or the Shire, just by being shocked and sad, my dear Frodo."
Twelve Ruffians finished for my Battle of Bywater collection.

In the Lysander sector last night - the T'au, battered from the Battle of the Eventide, try to sneak a key commander past the Imperial blockade, only to be beset by unexpected Ork pirates. A desperate and chaotic battle ensued, and though many T'au escaped, the Emissary ship was destroyed.

I've arranged to run a participation game in January for someone just getting into MESBG, so I'm going to prepare a Last Alliance battle. It's something I've wanted to do for ages, that opening scene in the Fellowship is only quick but was one of my favourites growing up.
