@samiraahmed.bsky.social I just finished your book. It is fabulous. I wanted to share that I painted the book cover on a brick and it is part of my growing collection of banned book bricks.

Frankly it should be illegal to attempt to pass any legislation that is a clear harm to many while benefiting only the few. This is not the people’s business being conducted, it’s blatant theft aided by its signatories in its corruption.

The Trump regime will purge and plunder the historical treasures housed in the Library of Congress. This incursion is tantamount to losing the Library of Alexandria.
The President has named a new Acting Librarian of Congress. It's his former defense lawyer.
Todd Blanche, a former personal lawyer for President Trump, is now acting Librarian of Congress. According to his public profile, Blanche has no experience working in libraries or archives.

Former defense lawyer.

So... a loser. Trump only avoided prison through sympathetic actors kicking the can down the street. His lawyers were terrible. This guy isn't even qualified for his actual job, let alone running the Library of Congress.
A lot of people are (rightfully!) pointing out that this white guy with zero relevant qualifications replaced a highly skilled and competent Black woman as Librarian of Congress.

It sure seems like Trump wants someone in the role who will let Elon use all the data for training his fascist AI.

Only two ever have, though.

I agree that a duly-accredited graduate degree in library science should be a baseline requirement for Librarian of Congress.

He will begin to fire the hell out of staffers, change policies, lock up access to the library for researchers/citizens, and then claim he's cleaned up the entire Library of Congress, freeing it from the naughty stuff that was never there.

It's another arm of the America 250 propaganda campaign.

Also, he can't do this, this has no force in law, and the Library of Congress is ignoring him, as everyone else should ignore him about everything.
The administration's understanding of the "merit-based hiring" that is supposed to replace DEI is to fire a Black woman with relevant professional qualifications and replace her with a personal crony from a different profession entirely who is literally a guy named White.
