Our free food and supplies distribution is every Saturday at 12:30pm, and takes place in the dining hall on the east side of Edgewater Presbyterian Church. We have groceries, KN95 masks, Covid tests, toilet paper, laundry detergent, clothing and more!
Our April Food Distros will be held April 5, 12, 19, & 26 at Edgewater Presbyterian Church on 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue. We distribute free groceries, KN95 masks, COVID tests, toilet paper, laundry detergent, clothing and more every Saturday at 12:30 in the dining hall on the east side of the church. We distribute numbers for the distribution line starting at noon. Please mask at distro! We have free ones available. Much of the food from our distribution comes from the Chicagoland Food Sovereignty Coalition, a coalition of autonomous mutual aid groups working to reimagine a resilient, sustainable, and equitable local food systems based on food sovereignty.

Nearly every week, EMAN receives requests from our neighbors for items we may not have on hand — help us meet their needs! Email or text us to coordinate a pickup or drop-off. Please only donate items requested & in good repair!
This week, April 1, 2025, our neighbors need a ski mask, an iron & ironing board, women's size 10.5/11 house slippers.

Edgewater Mutual Aid Network is abolitionist. We oppose police, prisons, carceral systems, imperialism, colonialism, capitalism, and the state itself. We reject racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, and ableism, and do not tolerate expressions of bigotry. We stand firmly against punishing people, holding power over people, stealing, lying, obstructing people. We work toward a better world where communities take care of each other with dignity, respect, and love.

We do not, nor have we ever, allowed elected officials, politicians, or police into our organizing conversations or meetings, and we do not invite them to our weekly food distribution or to any other events that we organize or sponsor.

We will never partner with or endorse any candidates. We do not compromise our values for political access, power, or influence.
Even if an elected official does something we agree with, Edgewater Mutual Aid Network will never partner with or endorse any candidate. Furthermore, protest of the actions of one politician does not constitute endorsement of any political rival. We do not compromise our values for political access, power, or influence.

Mutual aid means building community to care for each other when government leaders fail to, and doing so in the shared understanding that we live in a failed political system.
Our work is inherently political but operates outside of the existing electoral system. We function independently from, and in opposition to, political parties, candidates, and officials. We reject the binary framing of electoral politics, which politicians often use to weaponize marginalized communities against each other and to manufacture public consent for unjustifiable actions. As a network, we do not support Democrats or Republicans.
