Chisa, is this why you decided Kokona was better suited to be Kathrina’s close person? Seriously, girl, every time you say something or show up on screen, I start taking poison damage.

I hope the devs are aware that Kathrina and Kokona being the same age at the time of sending their applications to Sirius means Kathrina was born a year earlier.

Rewatching WDS, I open the very first scene of the very first episode and immediately get hit by the fact that said scene couldn’t possibly unfold the way it’s pictured, because Shizuka is not a physical entity, so she can neither pull Kokona up the stairs nor hold her hand.

By the way, love how Chisa straight up copied Kokona here (she’s not very good at expressing her thoughts, so she definitely decided to grab the line appropriate for the occasion once she heard it + I bet she’s been dreaming of an opportunity to say that to Kathrina since forever).

Kathrina’s lines about returning home may be emphasized with the idea that the dreamworld her needs to return back to her original body before she dies for real. But her prince (Chisa) will surely come looking for her.

I can barely believe Chisa ended up actually saying out loud that if she was on the same stage with Kathrina, she’d rescue her in case something went wrong.

By the way, I was wondering if the other two roles beside Juliet Panda was talking about in that scene were important for Chisa’s story in some way. And, going over her lines, looks like the one in the lower right corner is actually Cosette, so Chisa did in fact secretly want to play her?..

Another interesting thing is that the color choice for the poster (giving Wendy a purple dress) makes Panda parallel Noa in TLP, who is represented by a purple flower on the song jacket, and that makes a TLP scene Chisa acted out with Noa be a parallel to a King Lear scene she acted out with Panda.

Chisa and Panda came to the rehearsal a little later than this scene happened, but I’ve been joking for so long that if they’d come just a couple minutes earlier, Chisa’d have been looking at it like, “Man, I wish I was Yae…”

Thinking how Kokona and Shizuka’s Phantom masks are similar to Oblivionis and Doloris stage masks… I only took note of that, because Kokona as the Phantom plays the piano, and Mirage has a bridge with piano and guitar solo parts, which hints at Chisa being the one playing the guitar.

Interesting that in Mirage the view of the setting sun seems to symbolize the beauty of life, and in Arabian Nights Aladdin and Leyla also enjoy the sunset together.

When I was rewatching the anime, I said half-jokingly that for Chisa reaching out towards the sun and commenting how bright it was, the sun was synonymous with Kathrina.

But the release order and the narrative (mostly through Kokona’s words) in fact draw an analogy between Kokona and Chisa, which is one of the most prominent character parallels in the story.

The cards draw an analogy between Kokona and Panda and Shizuka and Chisa, much like the anime did early in the story, in the arc where Shizuka was still invisible to everyone except Kokona.
