I don't even think people are confused. It's blatant clickbait, it has no wider meaning than that.

I can absolutely believe they don't want to reboot it as a period piece - that idea comes around all the time and they always swerve it because, as you say, modern day is more marketable. But it's gonna be a reboot. They've already said they're thinking the lead will be late 20s or early 30s.

I know "Stop getting Bond wrong!" is an ever-popular thread of discourse, but I really wouldn't give any shred of credibility to the notion that Knight or anyone else is struggling with this aspect of the new film.

I didn't know that part! Why even do that? I can understand wanting to do alt history with a light touch, but (a) work out your ground rules before you start, and (b) don't randomly throw in other things, stick to the one thing that's different!
