OK. Forget autobiographies, chat show anecdotes, newspaper columnists, forwarded joke emails, The Royle Family, anything to do with the Thickes or the Wilsons, and any blue/red confusion.

I have just one question: can anybody locate a clip of Family Fortunes where somebody answers “My cardigan”?

Your occasional reminder, if you’re in the UK, that it is shaping up to be a hideous bird flu season, with many wildlife casualties (including resident birds, not just winter migrants), and, however soft your heart, it is a Really Bad Idea to handle sick or ‘injured’ birds or bring them inside.

Anyone in Wokingham, Berkshire: my cat Monty has been missing since November 11th, he is microchipped and registered lost, and was last seen wearing a fluorescent yellow collar.

Please share and let me know if you have seen him.

"Say It Like You Mean It" by Sleater-Kinney (2024)

Reliably raw from Corin and Carrie. The album it's from, Little Rope, is great but very emotionally heavy, too much for frequent play.

"Highway" by St. Panther (2020)

You can almost feel the wind in your hair. Just saw she had a new 6-track EP out last week. I wish she'd do a full album!

My point here is not that crime, racism, terrorism, pollution etc were all worse in the 70s but that the period 1973-77 in particular was one of crisis, paranoia and hysteria. People were talking about Britain going bankrupt or collapsing into dictatorship. There was a national nervous breakdown

When people say that Wuthering Heights doesn't have anything to do with race or that no film has engaged with race, what they mean is that for them Romani people do not count and they also haven't been paying attention. I'm going to share a little material from a recent talk. Content note: racism 1/

Again, not to go on about ai but I have a few thoughts.

1. I've genuinely never seen an actual creative get excited about using it. Someone who has actually made something before. Its people from marketing and finance backgrounds getting excited about a false sensation of making something.
