Hugely enjoying this, best novel I've read in ages, but there was a reference to characters listening to Dark Side Of The Moon and I had to stifle the voice saying "But but but if the American South had been a fascist theocracy from 1945 onwards then British postwar music would be totally different"

They've announced casting for the Beatle wives in the Beatle movies and *of course* they've cast Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd.

I was thinking how quintessentially late 1980s the cover of Still Cruisin' by The Beach Boys is, with the first word of the title in cursive and the second in heavy metallic letters. Then I realised what it reminded me of. (Doctor Who got there first.)

THAT'S WHY GOD MADE THE RADIO (2012)

This is no masterpiece, but after listening to their 80s work it feels like a drink of cool, cool water. It abandons any attempt at a "modern" sound in favour of amalgamating the style of their 1965-71 output.

KEEPIN' THE SUMMER ALIVE (1980)
THE BEACH BOYS (1985)

These are getting to be hard work now, and I'm finding I have less and less to say. KTSA is dull, with a baffling cover of School Days by Chuck Berry. TBB is fucking rubbish, a horrible-sounding album.

L.A. (LIGHT ALBUM) (1979)

I found this fairly listenable, but who is it for? It's got a song based on a Bach corale, an eleven-minute disco version of Here Comes The Night from Wild Honey, and a rendition of Shortenin' Bread. A band at the height of their powers might have made this work, but...

Sellars' Scottish narrator at the start is a brilliant bit, and there's some very lively use of sound effects and pre-recorded voices. Definite sense of the show rallying at the end of this series, and to prove it here's a photograph of Sabrina. #GoonForARun

OK why do 90% of Americans who are into English football support Arsenal. They seem to be far and away the most popular team in the US.
