after a good bit of lobbying and grassroots organizing, we finally got the amtrak line running again between Mobile, AL and NOLA, which is very exciting. one guy in particular is very excited. he posts pictures like this on most posts about our amtrak line. i don’t get it but he must be protected

the world is kinda 🌪️ but i am at least happy to say that the goofy and fun punk band i’m in gets to play at 309 punk house tomorrow in pensacola, the oldest surviving punk house in the south :) very excited!

just finished - so far i’ve learned a lot from every Gerald Horne book i’ve read. it was fascinating (bad) to read about SCOTUS cases w/r/t affirmative action ca. 1990, along with Horne’s warnings about what was likely to come with Clarence Thomas recently appointed to the bench

just finished this - like 30% memoir, 70% interesting stuff on music, its context (in which it’s experienced, recorded, culturally developed), and how class boundaries intersect with what music is valued, held up as culturally significant, and how such designations can really miss the point!
