You genuinely can’t get much closer to winning the World Series without doing it.

That Blue Jays run was incredible, and nothing that came before today was invalidated by that result — but a win sure could have elevated it.

The job isn't done yet, but the Blue Jays have been getting it done in the World Series. And, of course, this week @nickashbourne.bsky.social and I are talking about the Only Thing That Matters.

In MLB history, 334 hitters have come to the plate 60+ times in a playoff run.

Of that group, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s 2025 ranks second by wRC+ (248) behind only Barry Bonds in 2002.

This is, by a large margin, the most astonishing sample I have seen in my 'career' (15 yr sampling glacier subfossil wood)! 🥰

Wanted to share it on this first World Glacier Day! 🧊❄️

This trunk has spent almost 10,000 years below a glacier and I have never seen bark better preserved! 💪

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
