I ran all three of these tests on o3 and 4o last night. Yes, 4o failed the first two, but o3 nailed all three very quickly.

I feel like this encapsulates the flaw in Alien: Romulus - a great sci-fi movie doesn't feel the need to explain what a "heat signature" is. It assumes the audience knows or is intelligent enough to figure it out.

My pet theory is that Ed is actually just technologically cursed. He is the way he is b/c interacting with technology has genuinely always been a frustrating nightmare in ways the rest of us simply don't experience.

Sure, none of this requires an AI, and it's kinda kooky, but there's an argument that chatting with an AI primed on a podcast transcript is the 2025 version of taking notes in the margins of a book. It's actively engaging with the material. tbh I think that's pretty clever!
