Conceptual corvid currently fixated on organizational topology, design systems as languages, structured content as embodied doctrine, antifascism, and shitposting as a service.

My views do not represent those of my employer, no matter what they claim
But… all the feral hogs… what if they have body armor? Squad tactics?

By the late eighties and early nineties, christian fundamentalists had learned that insisting on lockstep adherence to their norms was a losing strategy; they deliberately, consciously pivoted to this approach because they perceived “diversity” as a weakness to exploit.

An important but nerdy exercise, I think, would be an attempt at a relatively distinct taxonomy of “social media era” group actions; stuff like dogpiling and brigading is distinct from cancellation, for example. A nuanced take is good, but it also requires tackling the haziness of the language used

Yeah, it’s funny because it’s the same story from data entry gigs I got in the mid 90s all the way to giant orgs now. I think one thing that is starting to make execs I’ve talked to sit up and pause is the exploding “token budget” for projects that treat data quality as a problem for ai to *solve*…

A co-worker on an “ai” project outlined their plan: the first phase would consist of pure manual performance of the proposed work over a stretch of time, with careful mapping and documenting of all the complexities encountered. Will the automation work? Maybe! But that is a much smarter START…

In somewhat happy news, the slow work to build a compelling story around “this is the ‘eat your vegetables moment for org data quality” for the company seems to be bearing fruit. At the very least there’s way more willingness up and down the org chart to stop and think.

Really good sports writing is about teasing compelling human narratives out of what could otherwise be a numbers game.
