Crazy how the US government has just been openly acting evil. Like, this is the sort of stuff I read in those dystopian novels in elementary school and thought was too unrealistic and obvious.

I kind of wonder if, should the shutdown persist, the Trump Administration will use it as a way to secure more power. Is this a possible opportunity to do whatever he wants, if the pushback is a minimal as it has been with expanding powers, or am I being a pessimist?

“Why are they upset about the frog?”

Because the frog has power. As silly as it sounds. The frog is not just a good idea. It’s our greatest weapon.

And I’m going to explain why…

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is doing blatant propaganda for MAGA. No specifics mentioned, of course, just a vague message painting the conflict as petty and the- unnamed but clearly referenced- Democrats+ as The Enemy. No government website should be posting things like this.

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

This is normalising public violence (and the threat of it). It's a performance of course; why threaten people on Twitter like this if not just to peacock for the benefit of other people?
Can we call this administration what it is now. A terrorist organization

I love internet interactions that go like

A: mentions Thing
B: hey, what is Thing? Is it like This?
C: wow @B, you clearly don't know what Thing is in internet culture.
D: it means Thing? What don't you get???

It's so terrible that it's incredible

It is so frustrating watching Trump hurt Americans and America's global reputation, and for what? What does any of this actually accomplish other than a momentary feeling of victory?

Pets are family too, but losing them is so often seen as trivial. This is such a lovely thread ♡
This week, as I shipped the bulk of my orders, I let my mind wander and thought about pet urns.

It’s something that I do all year long but I don’t advertise it often. I’m also studying about death, dying, grief and loss. it’s super helpful and interesting ~ so here’s a tiny thread about pet loss

Hammajang Luck is Makana Yamamoto's first novel and also my first book post! I found it to be an easy and enjoyable heist novel set (on a planet) in space. If you enjoy scifi and heist, and are want queer transmasc representation, pick it up!

I'll be grabbing their next book.
