Last Wednesday the Birchgletscher in the Swiss Alps collapsed, devastating large parts of the village #Blatten and blocking the Lonza river which created a small lake.

Thanks to aerial images shared by #swisstopo, I was able to create a 3D model of the area.

#Thailand just hit by a very large (7.7) #earthquake at 1.26pm local time, origin Myanmar. Felt right across the country. Water in high-rise hotel pools sloshing down buildings, and the big Mahanakorn building downtown (if you know it) seen swaying back and forth. Too early for damage reports.

On the late evening of 15 March 2025, Strombolian activity started at the Southeast Crater on #Etna. Here are a few photos taken around midnight from the area of Piano Vetore, high on the southwest flank of the volcano.

M7.3 - Iran, Aug 31 1968 ⚒️🧪

The #earthquake struck northeastern Iran, causing 7k to 12k deaths. It destroyed 5 villages in Dasht-e Bayaz and damaged 6 more from Kakhk to Salayan. A strong aftershock on Sep 01 wrecked Ferdows. Over 175 villages were impacted in sparsely populated Khorasan. 1/2
