When we say trans rights are human rights, we don't mean that trans people deserve rights - although they do. We mean that the rights being stripped from transgender people are essential human rights promised to every citizen, and that if they can be removed from one they can be removed from all.

Viktor Orbán's system of 'illiberalism' has long been admired by the harder right wing of the GOP. The Heritage Foundation consulted with his regime to use as a model for Project 2025. Don't be surprised if the Trump regime tries a version of the same thing here.
