The latest research from the University of Oxford is a 10-year follow up to the first piece of research looking into the educational achievement of EAL pupils in England. It provides new evidence about how an EAL learners’ time of arrival at school can impact their achievement – and why assessing proficiency in English is essential for schools to understand and unlock their potential. Can we just address the fact that the UK should not, under any circumstances, be detaining and forcibly removing victims of trafficking or torture to another country. This government is going to end up being the cause of death for already traumatized individuals.
