Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

"Unfortunately, the sheer depth of American exceptionalism is such that this country’s political, media and economic elites have a difficult time believing that anything can fundamentally change for the worse. But that, in fact, is what’s happening right now."
“To describe the current situation in the executive branch as merely a constitutional crisis is to understate the significance of what we’re experiencing. “Constitutional crisis” does not even begin to capture the radicalism of what is unfolding…”

To be clear about this, the social calculation made by a *lot* of DC policy professionals is "Is this person fun to have drinks with? Then they're my friend," and isn't, sadly, "In this person's day job, is he trying to get immigrants put into concentration camps? Then he shouldn't be my friend."
Something people outside the Beltway don't appreciate about DC culture is how decontextualized politics is. For many policy professionals, it's treated the way business people talk about "product," instead of naming what their company makes. Policy is "product," and everyone's making "product."
