Phonological awareness: recognition of words within sentences and counting syllables

Phonemic awareness: manipulating individual sounds by isolating, segmenting, blending sounds in a syllable

Words that end in ch and tch
In one syllable words like patch, fetch, crunch and grinch, the tch and ch at the end of the words sound the same, like /ch/.

One way to help your child learn sight words is to write the words on an index card. Then have them draw a picture to help remember the word. Then start practicing reading the words on their cards, eventually they can cover up the picture and read them without looking. #dyslexia #dyslexiatutor

These are units, sometimes called glued sounds. They are groups of 3 letters that are pronounced a little differently than expected. They are used at the ends of words. In the Barton Reading and Spelling System they are introduced in Level 3.
