One way to help your child learn sight words is to write the words on an index card. Then have them draw a picture to help remember the word. Then start practicing reading the words on their cards, eventually they can cover up the picture and read them without looking. #dyslexia #dyslexiatutor

These are units, sometimes called glued sounds. They are groups of 3 letters that are pronounced a little differently than expected. They are used at the ends of words. In the Barton Reading and Spelling System they are introduced in Level 3.

Phonemic awareness skills are essential for learning how to read and spell. Phonemic awareness is the specific ability to recognize and manipulate phonemes, the smallest individual sounds in a word.

Did you know that research has identified several genes associated with dyslexia? And different variations of those genes can lead to differences in phonological processing, neuronal migration, etc.
