I want to not be a downer, so I will say some of the cast kinda won me over. Elle was enjoyable throughout, I thought there were interesting moral dilemmas abound and ZZ continued to have plenty of awesome suits (love the Quin Mantha)
However, I couldn't be more excited to finally get to CCA.

Even past that 3/5s point I last tweeted abt, most of the arcs didn't strike much with me. Ple-Two's is sorta interesting, until near the end it rehashes a lot of the common Cyber-Newtype plots. I also didn't find myself very engaged w/the final battle either.

ZZ Gundam finished!
I... am not a fan lol. I can see why people are enamoured with parts of the show but ultimately a lot of elements did not work for me, even as it became more of a "traditional" Gundam series near the end.

Take the X Train (1987)
A random Sunday watch, that impressed me more with animation than the story did.
It looks incredible and I think has a really awesome art direction. The main story however feels like it's been done better elsewhere, like Akira or Roujin Z. Not bad by any means though.

Dolemite (1975)
A classic, that actually plays better than you'd think it would. I watched Dolemite is my Name last year, expecting this to be rougher than it was and am pleasantly surprised.
Really funny to watch too, although I could have done without the Dolemite standup bits in the middle.

Umamusume: BNW's Promise (2018)
UMAYON (2020)
Post-S1 cleanup, with the OVA and a short series - both pretty good!
I actually would have loved Narita Taishin's struggle in the OVA as its own film, but it was well portrayed here. As usual for me, I loved the comedy shorts a ton.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby S1 (2018)
The horse girl experience continues! I can definitely see what my friend meant by this feeling "aged" in characterization due to airing before the game's delay, but I enjoyed it still!
I hate how much I'm being sold on Seiun Sky after this season

Case Closed: Sniper from Another Dimension (2014)
Pretty fun! The english VA here was pretty good, if a bit silly, but more importantly the stakes and intensity felt constant. Also had a great finale sequence.
Not my all time fave Conan film, but definitely better than recent ones I've seen.

The Amateur (2025)
Just wasn't feeling this one. I feel like people really attempt the Bourne formula a lot with "their own twist", rarely ever getting it right.
This one does play with the idea on being able to be a "true killer" but barely tries to do anything with the discussion.

War (2007)
And thus, Stathamfest 2025 comes to a close, with what should have been a bang but was more a whimper.
War's fine. I wanted to like this more, but it's too serious for its own good, w/o giving proper development to anyone sides one character. Fun twist, terrible second twist.

Crank (2006)
A curveball addition to Stathamfest 2025, but also sooo much fun.
This would easily be up there in one of my favorites to rewatch, save for two very specific scenes that make it really tough to go back to. Other than that, love so much here - the writing, color grading, shots, pacing.

Take the Lead (2006)
The "teacher helps a class of delinquents find their true passion and deal with life's problems" genre is something I'm not the biggest fan of, but this one was alright.
Like Black Bag (very funny comparison), it also "just ends" but it feels more annoying here.

A Working Man (2025)
Sometimes I forget this is not a sequel to The Beekeeper. On this rewatch, I also liked it way more than I did before too, unlike the Beekeeper!
The bumbling henchmen in this helps add to that. Love me some good bumbling henchmen.

Maximum Risk (1996)
It's movies like this that remind you "oh right, Van Damme can sorta act!"
I enjoyed this one. It's not the best erotic thriller out there, but even that little bit of edge and having Van Damme in a more serious role gives the action scenes here that much more intensity.

Witching Stone (2024)
Yes, I do still play games! And this one's really really good!
It's been on my list for some time and having finally put proper time to clear some of the campaigns, it's probably one of my favorite roguelikes. Such a simple and satisfying combat system with enjoyable setups!

Hard Boiled (1992)
A lot of people hype this one up as Woo's best, so I expected a better plot alongside the incredible action. The story's not bad, but it's definitely par for the course for this era & genre.
The action tho? Groundbreaking. Incredible. How is the final act half the fucking movie

finally, some good food. Really loved this, with a complaint being the final act ends WAY quicker than you expect. Maybe I should have been paying attention a bit better, but I expected more of an epilogue to the situation I guess.
One of my faves this year though!

The Transporter series (2002-2008)
Statham film triple threat! I'm glad I finally watched this series but overall eh?
1 is pretty good the more I think about it, 2 is fucking insane but probably the most fun, 3 tries to bring the tone back but is so nothing at the end of the day.
1 = 2 >> 3

The Beekeeper (2024)
I watched this only last year, so this is short - I liked this a little less on rewatch than I expected, but it's still "fine". The intro is much more hard hitting and frustrating, then the rest of the film plays out like any number of this genre of film.

Wrath of Man (2021)
WELCOME TO STATHAMFEST 2025
Watched a bunch of Jason Statham flicks with fam, so time to rattle off a ton with some other stuff in between.
Sadly, this one has very little sauce behind it. Not horrid or anything and the final shootout is okay but just nothing to come back for

Whiplash (2014)
Really pissed at myself for taking forever on this one. Very little to say, it's a masterpiece like everyone has said it was for over a decade.
One notable aspect is I love the moments they give of Fletcher being vulnerable, to only rip the rug right out from under you.

Sing Sing (2023)
An absolutely beautiful and gut-wrenching film. Coleman's performance in this obviously is incredible, but every other actor here is just as great.
I really suggest watching this if you haven't yet. It seems like it'll be constant tears but it knows to savor the tiny wins too.
