Hiked the Byrds Creek Loop at Cumberland Mountain State Park today, around 3 miles. A little shorter and less complicated than the Pioneer Loop I did a couple of weeks ago. Lots of interesting scenery, and you're never really far from the camping area or the road.

There's a lot of neat rock outcroppings (including a small squeeze on the full loop) and little waterfalls.
Lots of water on the trail (the day after a storm) and at least one creek crossing. Definitely want waterproof shoes with good tread.

Hiked the Pioneer Loop at Cumberland Mountain State Park Saturday. The full loop's about a 5.5 mile walk, but there's a 2 mile short loop.
More eventful that I'd have liked. Slipped on the suspension bridge and somehow fell on my pack in a way that I wasn't hurt; saw a black snake along the trail.

Overlook trail at Fairfield Glade, TN. 1.7 or 2.3 mile loop; a bit of a climb down from the overlook to the creek below.

Next, hiked the ~2 mile Black Mountain overlook loop. Not too difficult--it runs around the top of a ridge--but the drive up is on a narrow curvy road.

Ozone Falls, not far off I-40. Easy walk to the rim, short but rough climb down.
