Thank you Lambertville NJ and Acme Screening Room board member Jamison Standridge for today’s packed screenings and lively Q&A for thelibrariansfilm.com. Audiences left educated, aggravated, and activated to stop censorship.

These mezzanine structures from the 50’s to 70’s are challenging because the lower bookshelves are integrated with the support structure for the platform and cannot easily be removed. The shelves on top can come off, but sound transmits easily, so an active zone won’t work. #libraries

Yup, it works. Want a book the library doesn’t have? Ask ‘em for it.
I don't have a good understanding of the behind-the-scenes workings of libraries, but mine keeps buying the books that I request, and my librarian friends have told me that I should keep doing that.

'Astronomical' hold queues on year's top e-books frustrate readers, libraries | CBC News
More than 1,000 people are waiting to borrow the Ottawa Public Library's most popular e-book of 2024, and librarians say inflated prices and restrictive e-book publishing practices are responsible.

A 🧵 on power. Many libraries are built directly on concrete slabs with no space between the flooring and the concrete. While this has construction and durability advantages, it can be difficult and expensive to add electrical lines. This make it difficult to reorganize space. 1/3 #libraries

3/3 … instead of continuing to promote legacy media, libraries should embrace teaching seniors, low income patrons and others to download and use online resources. This is part of a critical cultural skillset that will allow them access to much more than movies and music. End. #libraries

🧵It is time to sunset legacy media like CDs and CD Audiobooks. In the near future, patrons may find it difficult to repair or replace players.
