I currently blog about games and other media on https://entertainmentnasty.blogspot.com/

I was once cited by Jason Schrier for a Kotaku article trying to save Christmas for some indie devs no really.....https://tinyurl.com/54xuejut

Companies: "We need AI to cut costs, increase efficiency and profits"

Also many of the same companies: "Oh yeh we can't be bothered to actually put out older media products up for sale so people can actually buy them"

Companies don't need AI. They need some-one to pointing out basic shit like this
Just saw some-one saying "You need explicit consent to be allowed to find some-one sexy".

I'm starting to understand the Darwinian idea of evolutionary dead ends at lot better after seeing a person say that.

Player™ the problem is you whiny lot think art criticism is moaning that a cookbook doesn't talk enough about werewolves for your liking.
capital G gamers piss me the hell off bc they'll go around saying games are art and yet the picosecond a videogame is subjected to the level of artistic rigor other mediums get, they cry and whine BC someone doesn't like their favorite toy

Nah Player™ we just understand the difference between a review & a critique and are aware of the essays on the nature of criticism by (admittedly I can remember which) Dickens or Wilde. Getting pissy because the game doesn't condemn ICE or talk about the politics of the Philippines is being a prat

I think you are mistaken here, us "Gamers™" never agreed to any boycott. it was you Players™ who were boycotting and failed spectacularly.
November 6, 2025 at 6:46 PM
You Players™ have literally causes chaos for studios and tried to get their games censored or funding pulled.
dealing with gamers™ is the worst part imo
Everything about making video games is harder than you think.

Players™ like you
October 31, 2025 at 10:01 PM
No Player™ it's we'd actually like to have fun with our leisure time not be given a ham fisted lecture about [current issue] even if we agree with the position given in the game.
I don't agree with that ratio even for those forums which are very insular communities but good god, everytime I check them you see some brain dead thread about whether the game in question is "woke".
Some Gamers™️ are indistinguishable from 12 year olds worried about cooties

Current status of work.

I've been told another A.I. set up to try and do my job has killed itself.

I think that's 4 or 5 now. The dev guys say it's promising, it lasted a whole day simulated doing my job this time

I’m trying my hardest not to look at much social media, but my god the footage from twitchcon was just pathetic -

People showing up to instigate or act out to get attention is some genuinely disturbed shit.

How they got my immature ass thinking “these people need to grow up”?

I sincerely hope whatever your hobby doubles in price tomorrow if you're going to take this tact towards the proposed $100 price for video games.

#Videogames #Gaming #Videogame
ah, the whiny babies have found the post, I see.
October 25, 2025 at 3:51 PM
No we had this argument with $70 only a few years back.

We agreed #Videogame companies could try $70 and the agreement from the gaming community was you get $10 more and cut the bullshit. Companies put $10 on the price, and kept the bullshit. Proving they can't be trusted to be allowed to ask more.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising
October 25, 2025 at 3:49 PM
Then maybe multibillion dollar companies making record profits could not pay to animate every strand of Lara Crofts hair using tech only 1% of users could even run at a good framerate and only 5% of those who could would even notice the difference??
this is not the only cause, but big video games are straightforwardly too cheap for the level of investment required nowadays.

"You should only be allowed to play games if you're sufficiently wealthy"

What is this shit the olden times where Theatres was only for the rich and peasants were meant to just toil?
A lot of people seem to think that a wealthy lifestyle should be easy to afford (or even free) and are disgusted by any indication that it isn’t or shouldn’t

"The Library is OK for an occasional treat"

What kind of fucking dystopia are people pushing for where reading a book is considered something that should be an occasional treat like some luxury thing?

Did I suddenly slip into the 40K universe where 28 hour shifts are the norm or something?
We can add The Library is Right There and It Is Ok For Something To Be An Occasional Treat

You know what I'm going to get pissy over this because #Videogames stuff.

YES this stuff is optional. It's also engaging in culture. It's experiencing it just as buying a book or a film or going to see a play is.

It's also peoples hobby. Imagine if you Hobby in just over 10 years now doubled price
The responses this post is getting, combined with the animating grievances of large swathes of politics, has convinced me we need a kind of society wide PSA about how Buying Things Is Optional.

You don’t think video games should cost $100? Don’t buy the videogame. Buying Things Is Optional.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

Dear #Nokings people, here's a free one for you.

As the right keeps putting a crown on Donald Trump to taunt you lot now, just do images with the tagline "more like this" and just have Trump in one of those cheap card Burger King crowns.

Player™ censorship is still censorship.

You don't want us to fight it don't get mad when Bioware is dismantled and censored and expect us to fight for you. Hell don't expect us to fight for you period. We'll back you up but you lot gotta prove you're willing to fight not just be entitled brats.
October 12, 2025 at 2:12 PM
well if you Players™ had actually bought AC Shadows and Far Cry 5 like you lot claimed you would on twitter to "own the Chuds" then maybe you'd have got the game you wanted.

But that would require you to play video games not just glom onto popular ones to talk about online after watching letsplays
Man, Ubisoft fumbling the bag yet again by giving into grifters and Gamers™️. A game about freeing slaves and fighting the KKK in a post-Civil War America would've been so dope!
