They’re really pinning all their hopes on that dragon show, huh?
I should boycott max after they cancelled Rap Sh!t. But I’m already hooked on True Detective: Night Country.

Like Janelle Monae said, “See everything is sex
Except sex, which is power”
Prudish podcast critics are getting on my nerves talking about the sex scene in True Detective S4. The scene wasn’t gratuitous or wasted. It told us something about Navarro that she would never tell us herself - sex is about power, men are not important part of her life.

I can’t stop listening to this mashup of Coco Jones’ “Double Back” and SWV’s “Rain”. “Double Back” samples “Rain” but hearing both songs at the same time is just R&B perfection.

I haven’t seen these photos of Janelle Monaé at the Soul Train Awards posted but I’m pretty sure we should all see these.

Reminder: Encouraging people to get vaccinated does not mean discouraging people to wear a mask. And vice versa. As always with public health, the best way to protect our communities is with *layers* of protection.

Solitude & silence (not typically by choice*) are often measures of self-care for me and it's sad that everyone except Black women are allotted and even encouraged by the mainstream to engage in self-care. AND when Black women are encouraged to engage in self-care it's heavily policed.

Thanks! It was Tuesday. 😁
@dustdaughter.bsky.social happy early current or belated birthday!! 🎊🎉 😅

Thanks, Inda! My birthday present was spending a quiet day reading the last eat in the Murderbot Diaries!
Wishing either a belated or early birthday to a dear one @dustdaughter.bsky.social today because I can only remember the fake date she uses online and can't remember whether it's actually before or after... you know, coz she won't tell anyone. 😉Anyway, have (or hope you had) a good one, girl.

New Murderbot book “System Collapse” by @marthawells.bsky.social and I am now torn between (A) trying to enjoy it slowly since I don’t know when the next one will come out, or (B) reading it all in one go. Since I don’t think I’ll be able to stop once I start, it’ll more than likely be B.

But the cynical part of me thinks these nominations were given to draw in more viewers in a year when they can’t count on a Beyoncé appearance.
I’m happy for all the Black women and Black nonbinary artists nominated for Grammys this year like Victoria Monet, SZA, and Janelle Monae. Hopefully all of them will be invited to perform and actually WIN some awards.

Incredibly fucked to censure Rashida Tlaib.

Seriously I have sat down for SHABBAT with Rashida. I bet most of the people claiming she’s antisemitic don’t even know what Shabbat is

Because you don’t care about actual Jews, you just want to use an image of us to punish people

F**K YOU, GLENN!
NEW: In a major rebuke of Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), Virginia voters helped Democrats maintain control of the Senate *and* flipped the House of Delegates.

Youngkin's proposed abortion ban is DOA, much like his presidential aspirations.

Democrats Flip the Virginia House, Blocking Governor’s Proposed Abortion Ban
It's an embarrassing loss for Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), who thought he could market a 15-week abortion ban as a "reasonable limit."

As we sift through all the victories today, I hope people pay attention to what will likely be the most overlooked Election Day story: that the Blackest, most populous county in Mississippi ran out of ballots and if that could have affected the gubernatorial race… www.sunherald.com/news/politic...

The Irrational:

An excellent twist on an old idea. Castle, Monk, and many more shows have had that whole "expert-in-something-helps-cops-solve-crimes" thing. Yes, we've seen psychiatry before, but this one hits differently. Jesse L. Martin's Alec Mercer has two reasons to be there; others haven't.

Just catching up with last night’s episode. Malcolm Jamal Warner is in this episode. And it's directed by Ernest Dickerson (Juice, Spike Lee's longtime DP). Black excellence!
