…hang on don’t you think that’s a bit too niche a reference?
mmm and the meta commentary is a bit of a hat on a hat, should we try this again?

This is definitely one of my favourite eras of Doctor Who. It’s never felt more like a show that can do anything, can take you anywhere. Every single episode delighted me somehow, even if I didn’t love all of it.

I really, really hope this isn’t the end.

It’s kind of a perfect image to end the show, should that be its fate. The tension between the absurd and the mundane is the driving engine of DW, and in its closing moments we’re presented with a perfect synthesis.

The next Doctor should always feel like a scary choice, whether you cast an unknown actor, an older fella, a woman, whatever. This is certainly that. But Piper is such an incredible actor I’m already excited to see what happens next.

Bold of them to simply not tell anyone about the ending. It’s gotta be the first time anyone’s watched a regeneration not knowing who’s next since childhood, which was tremendously exciting.

Theres so much inside baseball stuff on proud display, like the seal of omega or project indigo. Without the classic series’ freedom to ignore its history the continuity has mounted up, alienating the not-we to an alarming extent.

There’s so much inside baseball stuff on proud display like the power-of-love snipe or the Doctor dual-wielding a gun & a frock. It’s gloriously fannish, adding layers of meaning without detracting from the experience for casual viewers.
