And as Brits it’s our moral responsibility to exclude, shame and (if it comes to it) knock the teeth out of anyone enforcing this shit. No fucking excuses. This is actual genuine segregation in our country

Thanks for the fun time babes. See you in the stars ❤️❤️

But it won’t be the end. I guarantee there are kids out there now who will grow up to be actors and writers and crew members and producers because of this show. I cannot wait to see what they do.

If this is the end, at least the show can boast that it left us with one of its all-time best seasons, with nearly half the episodes! And so many stories are up there with the best of NuWho.

Crucially Gatwa was central to that. While you can often see the influence of past doctors on the current actor (Smith/Troughton, Tennant/Baker etc) Gatwa stands alone. Never before has the doctor felt so libidinous, so loving, so warm. I loved him.

Creatively the juiced budget and RTD’s push to do new things has led to some of the most inventive and daring moves Doctor Who has ever made, while still being oodles of fun. I would’ve gladly watched five more seasons.

FINAL THOUGHTS.

This is definitely one of my favourite eras of Doctor Who. It’s never felt more like a show that can do anything, can take you anywhere. Every single episode delighted me somehow, even if I didn’t love all of it.

And silly as it is, the idea of it becoming a burden, or being abandoned does make me a bit sad! Plus starting and ending with Gatwa feels right.

But before I’m done! Rankings and some final thoughts.

This project has been a really fulfilling ritual for me. I know it’s mostly gushing first impressions, and no one cared except me, but it’s led me to a more critical engagement with this show I’ve loved & given me space to be a big nerd- even the alt text has improved my descriptive writing!

However, this is the end of this thread. I started it 18 months ago thinking it’d go much longer, but god knows when they’ll be a new episode, or if I’ll even be on Bluesky when it releases! So I think that’s it.

THE REALITY WAR.

I really, really hope this isn’t the end.

THE REALITY WAR.

It’s kind of a perfect image to end the show, should that be its fate. The tension between the absurd and the mundane is the driving engine of DW, and in its closing moments we’re presented with a perfect synthesis.

THE REALITY WAR.

Gosh Davies is desperate, isn’t he?

THE REALITY WAR.

The next Doctor should always feel like a scary choice, whether you cast an unknown actor, an older fella, a woman, whatever. This is certainly that. But Piper is such an incredible actor I’m already excited to see what happens next.

THE REALITY WAR.

Bold of them to simply not tell anyone about the ending. It’s gotta be the first time anyone’s watched a regeneration not knowing who’s next since childhood, which was tremendously exciting.

THE REALITY WAR.

Theres so much inside baseball stuff on proud display, like the seal of omega or project indigo. Without the classic series’ freedom to ignore its history the continuity has mounted up, alienating the not-we to an alarming extent.

THE REALITY WAR.

There’s so much inside baseball stuff on proud display like the power-of-love snipe or the Doctor dual-wielding a gun & a frock. It’s gloriously fannish, adding layers of meaning without detracting from the experience for casual viewers.
