Again, you're just saying that with the benefit of hindsight. Gazdag was a DP-level player anywhere north of Broward County and we were lucky to land him.
We bought down Nagbe to sign Ali, maybe we don't do the same to get Gazdag if the order is swapped, but who knows.

I'm ignorant of such things, so I ask honestly: why wouldn't they go if offered? These are all Nancy's guys, most came from Montreal.

"Panic-extending Gazdag" is just revisionist history. We were only able to get him because of the extension, and he was seen by all reasonable observers to be a good acquisition.

I don't know if the problem is Nancy, Tall, or ownership, but the Ali thing was a failure. Knowing they had one DP flex opening for Nagbe and another possible with Cucho, they should have had someone else queued up.
