Been a while but I've been down a rat hole of generalising controls, wheel and levers against physics forces and floating objects. However, I'm emerging from the conundrum and sailing the high dungeon seas!

Yay, the buoyancy physics approach works for the big stuff as well as the little stuff! It's totally unfinished but this ship is pretty big on the aft section (just not visualised).

Yeah boy, that's totally buoyant!

Watched a video, learnt some new tricks with synchronisation of GPU and physics on CPU, and oh boy... I've got things floating on the noisy water. So excited about getting larger sailable vessels going now. Whoop!

Refining the movable whirlpool feature. Once again, pretty pleased with this evenings #indiegamedev efforts. I think #godotengine is starting to sink in and made this pretty comfortably (mostly shader work tbh).

Why the water?

Well there are some vast rooms in these dungeons that will be navigable by vessels of various forms the exhibit both safety and danger (...aka "boss" type entities).

And in the game... I need to procrastinate and endlessly tweak this water (the edges need to be a bit more foamy for me), but I'm pretty happy with these murky wet death traps.

A rare attempt by myself at a half decent dungeon water shader. Uses vertex deformation for waves (really!? 😜), a whirlpool and up to 16 ripple sources (for things floating). Chatgpt prompt as a starter, but refactored over 80% of the shader code (good learning though). #godotengine #indiegamedev

It's been a while since I've posted some progress on this #godotengine game. But I'm feeling pretty stoked right now with it! Procedurally generated, this underground dungeon area quite literally 'Rocks'!

That #indiegamedev feeling when you have just spent 2 weeks on perf related refactoring. Honing your "work of art" code to strip out, multi-task and process the bare essentials of what is needed. You run it and see it RUNNING SLOWER! Your 60fps "mostly" masterpiece now barely hitting 30 fps! 😡😟😭

Genuinely happy with my lot but only getting one day a week on average to #indiegamedev does get frustrating. I do so look forward to Sunday. But, #gamedev progress can only be described as Glacial 🤔😊

We all know opening a Tomb is generally a recipe for a bad experience - Just ask Rene Belloq 😉 Oh what, didn't he see the light and got vaporized?

... Tomb opening animation and shaders therein. Need to add some sound effects and try it in the game!

It's alive.. alive..!

This monster dropped in to the game relatively painlessly.

A wonderfully predictable skeleton warrior(!).

The foot soldiers of a dungeon. I want to implement some tactical traits, may be some flanking behaviours.
