One of the fundamental problems of Penn Station discourse is that there's so too many problems to be solved. Many (especially politicians) focus on the aesthetics: dingy, ugly, and confusing. But frankly some of Asia's best stations are confusing.

They need to start with first principles:
Great article on the past, present, and future of New York’s Penn Station.

“Maybe the Train Daddy will figure it out and get it done, but the fundamental issue here is not one of personality or incompetence. It’s a political octopus built to fail.”
Why Is It So Hard to Fix Penn Station? (Gift Article)
The nation’s busiest transit hub stands as a symbol of a condition that afflicts so many attempts to get big things done in America: inertia.

You can now take Waymo from San Francisco to San Jose Airport - but it only uses local roads.

Although autonomous vehicles will simply replace this traffic jam with autonomous traffic jams, hopefully it will end the relentless and unproductive honking

First Waymo ride. Not visible: someone left a sodastream bottle in the back of driver seat mesh pocket.

I worked in a place where they did fusibles. Usually the glue comes pre-applied to the material, and they just run it through a giant hot roller to (essentially) iron it on to the other surface. The worst part was the smell.
To save cost, H&M uses a fusible, which is to say they attach a layer of material onto the underside of the face fabric using glue. This helps stabilize the face fabric, but in extreme cases, the fusible can delaminate. This can happen if you use a steamer or a bad dry cleaner.

In other bad Caltrain news of the day, my hunch is that these service cuts would likely create a vicious death spiral of ridership. If you don't love rush hour traffic on 101, then you should be a champion of more funding for Caltrain:

If you’re taking @caltrain.com north past Palo Alto station, you might want to avoid looking out the right side windows after you pass the Alma crossing, until you get closer to Menlo Park

Otherwise you may see the remnants (covered for now until they begin cleanup) of what caused tonight’s delay

The new Caltrain really has improved my quality of life compared to the old diesel trains. Now, if they could only do something about the flat spots on the wheels...
We love good news! 🤭

Kudos to Caltrain! Despite the crash at Palo Alto Ave (with a Tesla X with New Jersey plates), I got home only 30 minutes late! Nice!

Wow this restaurant is a hit! The parking lot was 60% full on a Wednesday at 5:45pm!

The other nearby restaurants? Dead quiet.
An IHOP near me became a very, very, very Chinese restaurant. With things like $288.88 Peking duck flambé carved table side.

Congrats to the actuaries and product planners who nailed that my refrigerator’s compressor would fail exactly 6 months after the 5 year warranty / extended warranty.
