If there were more trains and greater frequency, the problems of overcrowding and aesthetics wouldn't be as big a of a problem. Imagine 10 minute headways (wait times). But that requires the solution at the very bottom of the article:

I saw them collecting signatures when I was in Menlo Park earlier this summer. I was surprised to learn this was what they were trying to get on the ballot! Of all things!

The salary for what is effectively the Mayor of Hong Kong is $675,000 USD, more than the salary for POTUS.
In the 1970s, they implemented a series of reforms to stem rampant corruption, one of which was raising government salaries.

If you’re taking @caltrain.com north past Palo Alto station, you might want to avoid looking out the right side windows after you pass the Alma crossing, until you get closer to Menlo Park
Otherwise you may see the remnants (covered for now until they begin cleanup) of what caused tonight’s delay
