2/3 This is the mental model I have for flourishing health; mostly, health platforms tend to focus on just the bottom third, essentially biometrics, and need to enlarge their approach to cultivate agency and encourage engagement and real-world connection. @angeladuckworth.bsky.social

Fun share, Eric! Not only interesting (& reassuring to many), but also part of the process of science-&, as the saying goes, why we do the experiment.

This LI post, summarizing recent panel discussion about AI in biopharma, triggered me b/c it seemed absolutely unmoored from reality. In particular, idea that "biotech now calculates success like NASA, not 'shots on goal'"= total fantasy. www.linkedin.com/posts/aaronb... @matthewherper.bsky.social

Saw this on my Peloton this am, reinforced idea of real fitness->longevity pivot, as I recently discussed in @bostonglobe.com drive.google.com/file/d/1rfga.... There are good data behind lifestyle interventions, but health/flourishing=more than performance metrics: also connection, purpose, agency.
September 14, 2025 at 11:45 AM
4/4 Delighted to see this callout, emphasizing strong evidence base for lifestyle interventions, an area I've been emphasizing and where I see tremendous near-term tech-enabled opportunity, building on scaled products eg Tonal, WHOOP, Peloton, Oura -> kindwellhealth.com/reading-reso....

3/4 While not focus of report, McK does explicitly speak to need for healthcare practitioners to focus more on healthcare vs sick care - a familiar call and certainly what a number of motivated consumers are already seeking (caveat emptor).

4/4 I argue many of the AI implementation challenges experienced by biopharma in early days reflects an ill-conceived drive to push/jam AI into the org to achieve anticipated (but generally illusory) productivity gains; I favor a "pull" approach driven by motivated lead users.
September 11, 2025 at 11:38 PM
3/4 The most successful AI tools seem narrowly tailored to specific processes, to opportunities that I've been calling "pockets of reducibility," borrowing the memorable phrase coined by @stephenwolfram.bsky.social
