A family tradition is to say Little Chef instead of Happy Easter, which makes almost no sense, compounded by the fact I was 5 when they converted all the Happy Eaters into Little Chef so had no idea what they were referring to.

Dumping the season at once without changing how they were delivering the season meant you had some absolutely absurd situations where you'd talk to someone, then go to a hologram to talk to them again, then go back to talk to them.
(Plus it meant I didn't interact with the seasonal activities)

* Most of the time, the answer to "Can I do X?" should be "Yes, but...". That "but..." can be all kinds of things, be it money, an item, or skill check. One of my favourite "but..." is "Are you sure?" which is the DM saying "This will 100% go badly for you" incredibly subtly.

* Expect a planned encounter to not go off as planned. Get ready to improv your way out of the problem
* A corollary of that is that they might not pick up important plot points. Decent plot writers will give you the information and multiple ways to give it to players

* Golden rule: Your job as a DM is to let the players have fun. If they aren't, cut that bit out
* Most of the fun in a TTRPG exists in the lines between the rules. Encourage them to find the space in between the rules
* If a rule is boring for you/the table, it doesn't exist
