Heck of a series, lots of drama, everything I love about baseball... I am now ready to not care about baseball daily for five months (or however many weeks it takes before the Mets sign or lose Diaz/Alonso).

Thought I feel like the drunk bad husband cop lead character can't have any positive responses when speaking to his wife (only on the phone).

Eh, baseball giveth and baseball taketh away. Last year was their best season in at least a decade, this year just... wasn't. Their billionaire owner is dedicated to (eventually) getting a World Series win and I do believe it will happen... it just won't happen as soon as we thought.

Outside of the Soto/Lindor/Alonso/Diaz core (the latter two of whom the Mets desperately need to resign), the Mets really need an overhaul for 2026. McLean has a ton of promise, but the rest of the rotation is meh. And IF the bullpen can get proper rest you still need lights out guys to set up Diaz.

Didn't even have a proper starter for the biggest game of the year so of course the overtaxed bullpen failed. Couldn't hit in the clutch. The only solace I can take is that this team would have been massacred in the playoffs. Maybe could get a fluke WC round win, but a 5/7 game series? Hell no.

I really think the Dodgers are beatable this year by the Mets or Reds, especially in a Wild Card series if the right starters are lined up. You only need two decent ones, which is exactly what the Mets have right now (and it seems like the Reds do too)

Oh whoops! But they were hyped for that Pirates series, that catch in the finale was a season-saver that they can build off of. Even tying the game that went into extras was clutch. A great way to end the regular season and hype up a possible return for the NLDS.

Plus the Reds have been on a roll ever since they got swept by the A's, they seem motivated as hell and have a pretty rabid home crowd cheering them on (at least it's seemed that way on TV since I started watching them... like four days ago)

Also tough to say how much the Brewers are going to put into the final two games. I'm sure they want to have home field for the entire playoffs but they're not gonna push starters too hard and might give some bench players more opportunities.

The only Mets starters who have pitched into the fifth inning more than once since August pitched the last three days. Tomorrow's game is a bullpen game but everyone in the bullpen outside of our closer is unreliable. And who knows who will be left for Sunday if the Mets somehow stay alive!

Though unlike 07 and 08 where the team performed well for much of the season, this season's Mets have been destined to fail. Streaky, unclutch offense, nonexistent starting for the last two months, and possibly the worst trade pickup class for a buying team, ever?

Thank you to your Dodgers for your part in keeping the Dbacks out of the Wild Card spot. Please look forward to seeing a lifeless Mets team that has limped to the playoffs next week. Unless the Reds jump past the Mets, then you guys are in trouble.

Was it a Gilbert Gottfried USA Up All Night night or a Rhonda Shear USA Up All Night night? Inquiring minds want to know.

Um I would be very glad to be completely wrong about this

It's shades of 22 where they are at their coldest at the end of the year & the exact opposite of 24 where they were riding a wave of momentum for months. This team has been sad to watch the entire summer. They need to be better than The Reds for the next week which is pretty much impossible, IMO.

I realize that was an awful run-on sentence but the Mets don't deserve proper proofreading right now
