Every year in the MLB playoffs my rooting interests go in this order:
1- The Mets (this rarely happens)
2- Whoever opposes the Yankees (this frequently happens)
3- Whoever has the longest playoff drought.
So at this point... go anyone except the Dodgers or Phillies!

True to form, it's fitting that the Mets 2025 season came down to the team failing to execute (rather than the Reds clinching). Had the easiest schedule of any playoff contender and couldn't win against sub-.500 opponents.

Looking likely that The Mets will miss the playoffs due to a freefall punctuated by losing to a sub-.500 division rival in their last series, just like in 2007 and 2008. Oh well, there's always next year...

Man, I do not want to see this year's Mets in the playoffs (which they are on the outside of, after todays loss) If they somehow make it in, I cannot see the pitching making up for their un-clutch hitting far past the Wild Card round and even their rookie staff doesn't seem built for a long series.

I get the feeling Juan Soto will become the first Met to join the 40/40 club... after stealing third base when the Mets are trailing 11-3 in the 8th inning against the Marlins after they've been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention

The Mets lost two starting pitchers this month to fielding injuries.
Can we just have designated fielders so that pitchers never leave the mound? These guys already have to regularly throw 100mph-plus pitches and deal with torpedo bats, why should they have to field too?

Something that nobody ever tells you about being a parent is how frequently you will publicly ask your child if they pooped or tooted… in front of a now-mortified stranger who had intended to cut one in peace.

This finally got to me on my 50th rewatch of A Christmas Story. I cannot fathom how the Parkers need 10 items plugged in just one room. MAYBE two light fixtures, a radio, Christmas tree lights, a leg lamp… what else? Are they leaving electric trains plugged in all day? Is there one outlet per floor?

I know Charlie Brown is worried about the commercialization of the holiday season in his Christmas Special, but I feel like that entire universe should be more concerned that children yelling a commonly-used phrase have the ability to just Fus Ro Dah the shit out anyone in their path.
