I've been seeing a lot of strep pneumo causing URIs in the last month. Now this week I had two invasive cases - a massive cellulitis of the pinna, and a severe cheilitis, both caused by strep pneumo on PCR, but neither had respiratory symptoms. Anyone else seeing this?

The American Medical Association surveyed doctors about insurance “prior authorizations” and found:

41 prior auths per doctor per week

13 hours spent per week on prior auths

24% reported hospitalizations due to delays from prior auths

8% reported disability/deaths due to delays from prior auths

The outpouring of anger after the shooting of the UHC CEO is (hopefully) letting the public see that doctors are on the same side as patients in the battle with the US health care system. I hope we are at a tipping point for change.
