Yesterday I spent the afternoon messing around making baskets out of the invasive English ivy I cleaned up.
Very, very rustic baskets, but it was actually pretty fun.

I decided to grow jack o’lantern pumpkins this year. The vines are happy but still struggling with getting pumpkins started. I’ve learned there’s girl and boy flowers.
Now I go out and actively pollinate the girls with the boys. Might have one finally taking. Hurray!

One of my backyard friends enjoying some of my Italian parsley. A little break from a diet of mostly dead leaves. Love these guys. Seriously, considering my next career being banana slug field biologist.
I mean look at its ‘foot’. And those slug/snail eyes. 🥹

I saw @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social refer to these babies as Oregon sand worms.
They are huge and lovely. And they clean up all sorts of stuff…mostly old leaves and fungus. But also enjoy some dog poop and carrion.
I love that I see two to ten in my yard every day. My gentle yard friends.
