We all already subsidize new curritive treatments. Scientists in academic institutes are doing a lot of the breakthru research and once there is a viable profit opportunity pharma steps in.
Allow people to buy into Medicare. Let them even have private insurance on top of it if they want.

We don't have to socialize the entirety of the medical infrastructure, plenty of countries still have well paid doctors and even private Drs and hospitals. Heck we have Medicare now!

As a journalist I am still shocked by how quickly the attack on the CDC was set aside.
How rarely I have read the name David Rose in the past few months is for me a pretty good indicator of how much a large swathe of US media has failed to meet this moment.)

It's tragic they even have to use an llm for that! It's a valuable if gross life skill to be able to spin nonsense like that in a few minutes when you realize no that class/work deadline was actually today.
