Could ticket touts finally be on their way out?
Ticket touts have long been out of control and extracting millions from the music ecosystem

The announcement of a cap means scalpers can’t profit from fans by using bot farms

Adam Webb from @fanfairalliance.bsky.social has pushed for change since 2012, so was great to chat on this week’s pod

Trump’s callous dismissal of Khashoggi: unforgivable

Disparaging one of his own citizens so he can cozy up to the same Saudi govt his *own* admin + CIA found liable for the murder 🤮

UN, Turkey, UK & US all concluded it was MBS => Saudi Consulate, Agents, Planes

It is *beyond* doubt. Bubonic cunt.

Just interviewed Adam Webb from @fanfairalliance.bsky.social about the end of unregulated secondary ticketing / touts / scalpers

Be sure to search for "Drowned in Sound" wherever you get your podcasts (Apple, YouTube, etc) to hear this episode when the embargo is lifted tomorrow

If the UK govt had any spine, they'd be doing a JD Vance and calling out freedom of speech and freedom of the press in the US

Sounds like a job for @zackpolanski.bsky.social
Trump in response to an Epstein question: "ABC, your company, your crappy company is one of the perpetrators. I think the license should be taken away from ABC because your news is so fake and so wrong. And we have a great commissioner, a chairman, who should take a look at that."

I always just assumed that gig time guesswork was a normal cultural thing, until I started going to gigs with my partner who - as a theatre fan - was bewildered by my vague assertion that "maybe the headliner is on at 9".

Interested to read this and the MVT blog that's come out since.

Great, balanced article on this: markdavyd.substack.com/p/the-room-w... Personally, it doesn't sit right with me to to make gigs pay by making people buy overpriced drinks; but what do they actually need to cost to make them sustainable to the act, promoter and venue? That would be interesting data.

Not everyone who thinks “immigration is out of control” is racist but a lot of racists are happy to hear it

Not everyone who thinks “billionaires shouldn’t exist” and that their wealth extraction is out of control is a socialist but they’re happy to hear it

It’s interesting which gets more airtime

The line “vote for us or you’ll get the far right” doesn’t really work when the policies you’re enacting are barely distinguishable from what the far right propose.

Elon Musk’s friend is one of the only people thrilled by Labour’s new immigration policy

It’s time to stop calling Labour a “centre left” party as they offer little sign of it in how they’re running the UK

In a week where criticisms of the BBC from Tory & radical right politicians as well as people who work for offshore media barons…

It’s great to wake up to BBC World Service leading the news with the climate protests in Belem and giving people trying to protect the planet a fair shake

This is a vision of the UK’s Trump loving future
Watch this.

Open your eyes to this brutality.

ICE beats up, drags & abducts this disabled visually impaired man.

Now share this.

Everyone must see the brutality of this administration & ask themselves what they are doing to push back.

You have power.

Even sharing this video exerts that power.

The same people obsessed with historic grooming gangs are not at all interested in the involvement of the powerful with historic grooming gangs

BBC is far from perfect but…people who’d rather have a media run by Murdoch and Paul Marshall will also decry elites in a time of billionaires & food banks
Not the first to make this point. But there is a tyrant in charge of another country who is accused of being heavily linked to a paedophile sex ring - and supposed ‘patriots’ in this country are passionately willing him to take down our national broadcaster. Madness.

It’s also failing to mention that Trump repeatedly speaks things that turned out to be untrue, shares deep fakes, and appears to be saying things about the BBC could lead to a legal rebuke

He claimed “They changed the words coming out of my mouth.”

No they didn’t. They edited the order.
A lot of the anti-BBC commentary this week has omitted to mention that:
a) Trump himself lost a defamation suit (against E. Jean Carroll)
b) Trump was fined in 2023 for bringing a frivolous claim against his political enemies on.ft.com/3XA1qnW
