Just written to my MP via the ever-helpful writetothem.com to point out my opposition to the Government's abhorrent new ideas on refugee policy.

Our university published an AI chat bot that gives guidance on how to apply for funding from the Academy of Finland.

When it gives wrong information, it's the responsibility of the applicants who were mislead and whose applications were rejected.

I don't understand how a university would want […]

I have made a tear-off Darkness Calendar for the winter. Every week I can tear off a page and get the sunset times. It starts next week and runs for 14 weeks, by which time we’ll be back to sunset at 1700 here in Cardiff.

The Conservative proposals to withdraw ILR status from anyone who claims benefits or earns under £38k are absolutely abhorrent. This would lead to a huge deportation of tens of thousands of people who have made the UK their home over a long period - just awful.

On the subject of paying for parking: some years ago I met some people from NCP (a big UK car park operator) and their research showed that most motorists hate the process of paying for parking more than they hate the actual parking fee. People want to get out of their car and walk away, they […]

The local council has introduced parking charges in the seafront carparks in our wealthy seaside town (I've never seen so many £100k Range Rovers) and the response of some motorists has been to vandalise the parking ticket machines. (Of course, it would help if local authorities weren't so […]

Gosh, the end of TiVo. I first saw it at BBC R&D open day in (I think) 1999 when I was just a student trainee. TiVo was American, so we had it hooked up via a standards converter to work with UK analogue TV. But I definitely recall a colleague explaining the “thumbs up, thumbs down” […]
