Some friendly advice to folks new to the conference submission game: everybody gets some submissions rejected. I did today. It’s normal and expected. Keep doing the best work you can, don’t get too high or too low, learn from every decision, and push on. #AERA2026

We need to increase access to psychologists. Reducing the training requirements to practice is *not* the way to go. See this letter urging council to vote *against* reducing training standards for psychologists.

Academic folks: I’m trying to find a study that compares multidisciplinary training against single discipline training at differing levels of student expertise (curious if effects are similar to inquiry based learning). Do we know of anything? I can’t find much empirical research in this area?

My little’s luggage was lost. In it was a plush rattle from when she was a baby (Pengie). I’ve called the airline repeatedly, we searched Halifax & Ottawa airports, & I think it’s gone. 1) reminder stuffies go in carryons 😬 2) we’ve googled our fingers off for a replica. Can’t find. Any insights?

Annual post for new folks to #YGK, especially displaced Maritimers! It is not the same, but taking a drive out Hwy 33 and taking the Glenora Ferry to #PEC has similar vibes to a PEI trip! 🍦 ⛴️ #GoodVibes #Summer ☀️

BREAKING: A federal judge in Massachusetts (the Reagan-appointed William Young) has declared the Trump administration's cuts to NIH grants — ostensibly over Trump's EOs on gender ideology and DEI — are "illegal" and "void." He's ordering many grants restored.

I try to practice work-life balance (lol). Yesterday, I met early with collaborators and hammered out a grant draft. I then saw a window to jump on a puffin/whale watching tour. A calf, cow, and bull humpback were so close I could have touched them. 🤩 Leaving with a full heart, both nerd and nature!

This year #CPA2025 got me in the feels. Seeing students, colleagues, and friends all doing such incredible work—I didn’t expect to love mid-career this much. It’s so cool to be at a place where you can look both back and forward. Thanks to all for sharing your talent and laughter this week! 🤓
