I am heartbroken over this. A 5 year old. This was completely preventable. Safe School Streets now! Large vehicles being driven by rushed drivers have NO PLACE near small children.

Not sure, but it’s really annoying and essentially antisocial behaviour.

I dunno- maybe women are waking up to the fact that society doesn’t support mothers? That their bodies take a lifelong hit, that their incomes never recover and that if they have a male partner, his life will be largely unchanged by having kids? (Except for the pay bump-for men w kids).

At RACMA conference. Jillann Farmer with a plea to include diverse voices a chance to speak on topics outside of diversity.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been asked to speak on a surgical topic at a surgical conference.

Another ad campaign asking drivers to pretty please do the right thing and slow down for children- just for the week pleeeeease. This has never worked in the history of drivers. Governments need to Build. Safe. Infrastructure. For. Kids.

So good!

Slightly different design in Barcelona. It was amazing to experience it last month.

Can I introduce you to the equally awful and yet defended Lake Shore Drive, Toronto?

I don’t know when it became a thing to have to drive your kids to school. My kids never got driven - they took the bus as generally we lived too far away to walk.

Nothing like the NSW government using a little pedestrian shaming to start your morning. Don’t forget kids, if you get run over by a distracted speeding driver driving a huge SUV with massive blind spots looking at their phone…it’s YOUR fault!!

Toronto Star was better but not much better? “Driver kills toddler, injures others by crashing large SUV into daycare.” isn’t hard to write.

Utterly tragic.

No sidewalks or cycle lanes but don’t live here and randomly want to sell your car? Park it indefinitely for free at the side of a major road with a “for sale” sign!

Very strange behaviour. Slow clap to 🇦🇺 councils that allow this and those who choose to sell their car this way.

As a very recent urban pedestrian, this made me LOL. “If I see a cyclist, I am going to FLIP!”

Australia has some truly shocking painted bikes on roads pretending to be infrastructure. This one I submitted and it made a top 10 list of worst bike lanes.

Christchurch, NZ has an amazing Dahlia garden. They were in full bloom in March but guessing you are in the Northern Hemisphere.

RIP to Birdie McBean, our gorgeous greyhound girl, a retired ex racer we inherited after her owners passing. Arrived home to the news she has suddenly become very ill while I was on a long haul flight.Partner had to make the tough choice to do the kindest thing. I thought we had so much more time. 💔

More Barcelona infrastructure fangirling. Medium density housing, separated cycle lanes, and pedestrianised streets. Just amazing and also a real wake up call as to the utter car dependency madness going on elsewhere.

My face when ppl don’t believe bike lanes are good for small businesses. (From a tour of Hospital de Sant Pau yesterday).

The intersections in Barcelona are so thoughtfully designed in their physical structure. Storage space for bikes, motorcycles & cars often takes up the corners, sometimes reinforced by bollards. This means any slip lane effect for cars turning corners wo slowing down is eliminated. Brilliant.

The cycling infrastructure in Barcelona is incredible. Both protected (not just paint!) lanes on street or as part of wide pedestrian boulevards. These lanes are used by e-scooters as well as bicycles.

In Barcelona for a conference. This is such a great city. Wide boulevards for pedestrians, loads of car free areas, bike share and transit. Conference has given me a pass which allows me to use all public transport options- have already taken two trains and a tram.

It’s not that unusual unfortunately.

My unpopular opinion is that parking vehicles on the road that do not get used, or parking excessive numbers of vehicles, is antisocial behaviour. If you do this (whether it’s technically allowed where you live or not) your neighbours hate it. #unlivablecities
