That, plus the covers of so many of my books have faded to white, while I still look for them based on the spine color I remember their having when I bought them decades ago.

I read The Mysteries of Udolpho when I was 24, which is pretty impressive when you consider that Ann Radcliffe didn’t publish it until she was 30.

Nailed it. But I think an underlying assumption is that SNAP recipients are less likely to vote under any circumstances than aggrieved middle class fliers. And frankly they’re not wrong. But it’s a grossly cynical way to drive policy.
