Big shift in Opensignal’s Q3 2025 Network Excellence Index: Norway leapfrogs Denmark to #2 worldwide — and #1 in the Nordics. Scandinavia now holds 3 of the top 5 spots.

- Sweden up three positions to no 5.
- Finland down nine (!) positions to no 13 due to deterioration in "Excellent Consistent Quality".

Uh oh.
Cardboard-box demand is slumping, flashing a potential warning about the health of the American consumer given that goods ranging from pizzas to ovens are transported in corrugated packaging.

Mixing up DMs and posts is like sending your diary to the printer.
Imagine if Richard Nixon had just tweeted out the Watergate scandal rather than putting it on secret tapes.

That’s what this is.

Sure sounds a lot (too much) like WWII and unrestricted submarine warfare. That usually has consequences.
WH has struck another vessel, killing three in Intl. waters, claiming it was transporting illegal drugs to the U.S.

If the U.S. can blow up boats in Intl. waters claiming they “might” be drug traffickers, then other nations (China, Russia..) could claim the same to attack vessels they don’t like.

This decoupling sends a strong signal, if the numbers are correct.
GOLDMAN: “.. The resilience of the Chinese economy despite much higher US tariffs remains impressive. Despite a 33% year-on-year decline in exports to the US, overall exports in August grew 4.4% year-on-year .. as Chinese producers found enough new markets and export channels to pick up the slack.”

I'm very grateful I live in a country where you can simply show up at any of the widespread voting stations that in Oslo are open 11 Aug - 5 Sep (you can even vote early from 1 July) and cast your ballot. No fuzz, no complexity, nobody making it harder than it has to be. Just democracy at work.

By engineering yeast to produce six essential sterols found in pollen, researchers provided bees with a nutritionally complete diet that boosted reproduction up to 15-fold. No pollinators, no life (as we know it). This research could make a real difference: www.sciencedaily.com/releases/202...

“Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences.” Finally, something we agree on, Mr. President. Q.E.D.
Trump says he’s ordered two nuclear submarines to be “positioned in the appropriate regions,” after comments from Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev, “just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that.”

Interesting thread.
I've lived in D.C. for the better part of two decades. Nearly my whole adult life. Something folks aren't talking about--a giant elephant in the room--is the amount of "brand protection" going on right now.

I don't mean fear of Trump or political persecution, although those can overlap.

Trump: Japan gave us $550 billion upfront. We get 90%, and they get 10%. It’s not a loan or anything. It’s a “Signing bonus,” I call it

And Japanese side said they have no framework and are not looking into signing any legally binding agreement.

Also, $550B is roughly 14% of Japan’s GDP.
