For those of you who have taught research methods/statistics, what are your difficult topics. I’m compiling lists from research and my own experiences. I want to know what others think as well.

Watching my students develop a helpful document to aid with tips for developing SRL in meaningful contexts to them. This is a fun summative kind of assessment.

Hi methodologists! My grad student is looking for a good reference paper that uses moderated hierarchical multiple linear regression on a dataset with multiple imputation, or a guide on how to write up the results. Does anyone have any good leads for him? Thanks so much! @aeraedresearch.bsky.social

Yesterday I was able to my motivation students how to look at their ESM data. They are going to do a reflective paper linking their findings to course content. It has certainly been a fun course. I’m glad I get to teach the course again in the spring. I’m also ready for another fun project.

Exciting times for my motivation seminar class as they evaluate goal monitoring apps and make recommendations for change. I’m looking forward to seeing them try to apply course content as undergrads.

My undergrad motivation class is designing a brief ESM study with my assistance. Does anyone have recommendations for free software that actually gives downloadable data? I have looked at PIEL as a possibility, but I’m curious for any others.

It’s been a fun semester so far testing AI capabilities in creating visuals. I do go back to compare against my notes and make edits. Anything to make planning go more smoothly is a plus.

Anyone have absurd statistical claims or visuals they like using for their classes? I’m wanting to get a collection together for a day one idea. I want to present some absurd ideas then some questionable and then some not so questionable to show we still have to be critical at information presented.

Excited for the next opportunity. My next journey takes me back to where my interest in psychology started. It’s surreal to be a colleague to some who helped started my interest in the field.

I'm really enjoying this article approach to introducing statistical topics. Yes, we do have to revisit some with students being new to statistics. Overall, I do think the students are enjoying the approach as well.

Is there a middle ground between Socratic questioning and discussion board prompting? I’m trying to strike a decent balance for an online Developmental course. I can’t do too much questioning since it’s somewhat asynchronous.
