In recognition of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, I share an article with my reflections on the legacies leading up to the current crisis of anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian racism in Canada.
Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism in Canada higher than after 9/11, warns expert
Impact of Islamophobia on Canadian Muslims ‘compounded by both global geopolitics as well as the local context and reality,’ says Muslim studies expert Jasmin Zine - Anadolu Ajansı

You don't say. More from the theater of the absurd.
At her first White House press briefing, press secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed that the Trump administration had paused $50 million in funding for “condoms in Gaza.”

There is no evidence to support the claim that the United States was going to send $50 million in aid for “condoms in Gaza.”
There is no evidence the US planned to send $50 million for "condoms in Gaza"
More importantly, the funding pause touted by the Trump admin could have devastating consequences for Palestinians in desperate need of medical attention.

Islamophobia has proven to be profitable and politically beneficial to those who threaten racial violence against Muslims. It propelled Pete Hegsmith's role as Secretary of Defense. Domestic violence, well, just look the other way. The moral blindness of US politics is staggering and dangerous.
An unqualified former Fox host, accused in an affidavit of being "abusive" toward his second wife, of being perpetually drunk, and allegedly screaming "Kill all Muslims! Kill all Muslims!" just got confirmed as the US Defense Secretary (!) by a tie-break vote in the Senate.

Dangerous lunacy.
Donald Trump just pardoned a violent insurrectionist who *also* happens to be a convicted child sex offender. (Imagine if the QAnon freaks who pretend to give a damn about child sex offenses actually gave a damn about them!)

"Our analysis clarifies what the ADL’s prominent report captures and excludes, and shows how the conflation of anti-Zionism and antisemitism skews the data—ultimately serving as a reminder of the need for serious statistical analysis done by an organization not beholden to Israel advocacy.”"
The Shift: The ADL exists to defend Israel, not combat antisemitism
The ADL’s reaction to Elon Musk’s “awkward gesture” proves that they’re not concerned with antisemitism. The group exists to defend Israel.

"I am a victim of that genocide, neither perpetrator nor bystander. As for Gaza, there I am complicit, if only because the slaughter of 6,000,000 European Jews, including 1.5 million children, serves as a cover for the ongoing genocide ... “Gaza” is the first genocide carried out in my name."
In my life, I have been enmeshed in two genocides. The first was when I survived the Holocaust in World War II. The second is the Gaza genocide, which is being carried out in my name and which is exploiting my story to justify the slaughter.
