I agree 95% - the intent is spot on - but it would be impious to command or injunct the Lord (imperative: "God, rest merry those gentlemen") and I believe it is instead optative subjunctive: "[May] God rest you merry, gentlemen". The same form as "[May] God bless you" and "[May] God save the King".

I'm guessing autocorrect has struck again over "polo"? Pool doesn't have much of a "posh wanker" image, and its land use seems remarkably compact, given that much of the affected land already has the back rooms of pubs built on it.

What is special about the post quoted is not only did she carry it through, for real, despite sobering up, but then *did it again* at a later date:

approximately three hundred of you have sent me this and you know what? Sure. I’ve got time today. Put 40 bulbs of garlic in my pasta, coming right up

By the standards of Bluesky culinary experimentation, that's still not a record:

hello i am drunk and wondering, what if i do the 40 cloves of garlic chicken but with 40 bulbs of garlic
#RecipeOfTheDay is my twist on a French classic: Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic! Don’t be afraid: the garlic cloves steam so sweetly in their skins. Squish into the sauce as you eat, spreading some on chunks or slices of bread www.nigella.com/recipes/chic...
