A cautious choice, but defendable, I think.

2. He wanted to be able to make a quick tag on a shallow fly.

3. He STILL only missed scoring by a millisecond on a hard hit grounder to a shallow 2B.

Dude. He'd raked all night, and while yeah he's not the fleetest player of all time, he made great contact on that hit. If his bat hadn't exploded at just that moment...
